The Gallery

Studio Thọ - located at the centre of Hanoi’s thriving art scene - presents a selection of artworks by local artists from various cities in Vietnam. We host a collection of contemporary Vietnamese art that spans the spectrum from woodblock prints and etchings through watercolour and inkbrush works on paper and silk, to natural lacquer and oil painting, mixed media works, and Fine Art Photography. A particular speciality of this Gallery is Avant-garde Calligraphy.

Exhibitions throughout the year introduce works by new artists. Many of our artists' works are in private and public collections worldwide. Studio Thọ is a gallery dedicated to the promotion of national, Pan-Asian and international artists, providing quality and strictly original art to established and emerging collectors, and also catering to special events in support of Fine Art. German born art director Thomas Ulbrich, has been active in the antiques & fine art market in Korea for 20 years before moving to Vietnam in 2003. Based on this expertise, Studio Thọ is also able to offer to the specialist collector art objects of an earlier period.

Credo

We believe that contemporary Vietnamese art has a uniqueness that is unparalleled due to its history and influences. With a growing base of collectors and critics likewise, the increasing appreciation of art from this region cannot be denied. Stimulated by a fusion of rich influences and trends of East and West, contemporary Vietnamese art is experiencing an amazing period of creativity.

Art collectors and investors, aware of the potential and talent of these artists, are focussing on this comparatively new market. Studio Thọ believes that it is our role to introduce and cultivate young and promising artists by bringing them into contact with an informed collector base.

But we do not only cater to investors mainly interested in big name artists. Many visitors to our gallery are looking for a piece of art to enhance their homes. We as curators and consultants can assist them in finding a work that fits their taste and their budget, all the while helping the client acquire a little more knowledge of Vietnamese art.

Buying quality and authentic art in Hanoi ....

….is not so easy. Though there obviously are countless shops and galleries offering artworks and trying to attract the attention of passing travellers. For the foreigner it may be difficult to choose and to distinguish originals from `multiplied’ artworks in various forms.
